Paris tramway line T6, the second rubber-tyred tramway in Ile-de-France operated by RATP using 28 Alston/NTL STE6 (46m) Translohr trams-on-tyres and running between Chatillon - Montrouge (Line 13) in Velizy-Villacoublay (Robert Wagner station), was commissioned on 13 December 2014. In 2016 line T6 will be extended to operate to Viroflay Rive Droite (Transilien Paris Saint- Lazare) and will then be 14 kilometres long.

Following contact with UK Tram, at their request, they visited the Island to see Island Line and understand the potential for the conversion of Island Line to tramway operation.

UK Tram have been given access to copies of IWT latest Draft Options Presentation and Draft Business Case for the lowest cost conversion to Light Rail Operation which includes the comparative data on Alstom/NTL Translohr for review.

UK Tram are very keen to see the Island get a more appropriate railway and is the Light Rail arm of the Department for Transport (DfT) for new and conversion to Light Rail scheme appraisals.

Updated Draft IWT Island Line Options presented to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway (IWSR), Solent Transport (ST) and the IWC Officer.

Classic Light Rail agreed as the lowest cost option although Translohr remains the most profitable but more costly conversion option.

The 1st of 12 Alstom/NTL 39m STE5 (300 passenger)Translohr tram-on-tyres delivered to Medellin in Columbia. It will be operated by Metro de Medellín on the Ayacucho Line, connecting the B Metro Line and two Metro Cable Lines. This 4,2 km line will carry 80 000 passengers per day and has 9 stations which will be equipped with PSD and Translohr will cope with 12% gradients on route.

Paris tramway line T5 is the first rubber-tyred tramway in Ile-de-France operated by the RATP using Alstom/NTL STE3 (25m) Translohr trams-on-tyres was inaugurated on 29 July 2013. Line T5 runs between Marche de Saint-Denis and Garges - Sarcelles. Line 5 is 6.6 kilometres (4.1 mi) long and uses Alstom/NTL STE3 trams-on-tyres.

Isle of Wight Council (IWC) has asked if Isle of Wight Tramway (IWT) can look at the Ryde to Shanklin line for conversion to Alstom/NTL Translohr and other options from the start of the next franchise in 2017 with a view to creating an holistic approach to the Islands transport network.

The Island’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport stated today that the Tranzwight project would be considered within the Island Transport Plan following the submission of a valid business case.
